Both mainstream and sidestream sensors of the PHiliphh MP series M3014A module use infrared absorption spectroscopy to measure CO2. However, during use, please be sure to pay attention that the analyzer part of the sensor cannot be contaminated by patient secretions or some other foreign matter. Healthcare professionals can choose between reusable and single patient use airway adapters for mainstream CO2 measurement. It would be more effective if mainstream CO2 measurements were taken in the patient's airway, as this would speed up reaction times and reduce the chance of data errors.
